Here is a recent illustration I created for a very prominent fashion Label in the UK
called
AUBIN & WILLS. Every season, A&W comes out with a publication called
The Almanac. Each quarterly issue features an artist who creates a piece of artwork which landscapes the entire front cover, the inside front cover, the back cover and the inside back cover. I was asked to be the featured artist for Christamas 2010. The brief included the following Dorothy Parker poem for inspiration for the art:
ANYTHING GOES
Drink, and dance and laugh and lie,
Love the reeling midnight through,
For tomorrow we shall die!
(But, alas, we never do.)
~Dorothy Parker
I hope it's evident from the final art that the project was a blast to work on. The publication is art directed by the fantastic and first rate talented AD Declan Fahy (who is also the Deputy AD of Esquire UK). Declan told me he really likes my interplay of typography and illustration. Any chance I get to implement typogrophy, I jump on it. I am a typographer by nature and utlizing it in my work with pictures always gives me great joy.
In addition to the printed art, the artwork will also be on men's and women's shirts as well as handbags. I will post the apparel and bags in an upcoming follow-up post, likely closer to Christmas. Stay tuned!
