CA Illustration Annual
Promotion is important for us illustrators.  I always tell my students a great way to get your work seen by the right clients is to enter the awards shows.  Communication Arts has the widest circulation of any graphics magazine and to get an award in their annual competition is indeed an honour!  I have been very lucky with having a presence every year (except for 2 years ago when I forgot to enter - oops) and this year I was graced once again.  Please be sure and pick up the Illustration Annual when it hits the newsstands, it comes out every May.  It's a wonderful way to see what's happening in illustration today.
Below are my 2 winning pieces in this year's annual.  "Mr. Toppitt" was created for a review of a novel with the same name for The New York Times Book Review.  The AD was Nicholas Blechman.

This illustration below, entitled "Making It Pretty" was created for Plansponsor Magazine.  It's an article about how annuities get a behavioral finance makeover. The AD was SooJin Buzelli.
