Artists Against the War Panel

This Weds. at the Society of Illustrators, 7PM, a panel on art and press censorship in wartime.  The Media: the First Casualty in Iraq.  $10, free to students with ID. It will also be broadcast live at societyillustrators.org. Not that talking about this syndrome will stop its recurrence.  But understanding it may help us better survive the next assault.  Hope to see y'all
Christian Parenti is an American investigative journalist and scholar. His most recent book, The Freedom: Shadows and Hallucinations in Occupied Iraq (2004), is an account of the US occupation in Iraq. Parenti has also reported from Afghanistan, Iraq, Venezuela, and Bolivia.
Steven Heller, designer, author and co-author of many works on the history of illustration, design and ways they intersect with the world at large.  His output numbers some 80 titles plus many articles in periodicals on design.  Art here by Edel.
David Wallis contributes to The New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post. He is the editor of Killed Cartoons: Casualties from the War on Free Expression (W.W. Norton)..
