Drawger Security Words
posted:
Over the past few months with the new Drawger look, I've been sort of fascinated with the security word feature.  Not really about the feature itself but the odd word combinations it throws together.  I started writing a bunch of them down and thought that maybe I would do a few pieces of art of some of my favorites.  Bestnewt, fishwave, beanface...so many interesting possibilities for imagery.

I chose HAIRMORE for this one which I did in one pf my sketchbooks.

I decided instead, to do just one and set up a 'Drawger Security Word Show' in the shows section at the bottom of the front page so that anyone can post a sketch or full out piece based upon one of the words.  I thought it might be interesting to see people's take on some of these odd word combinations.

Quirky Collector

Here's the link to the auction website.  Be sure to look at the lots currently for sale and sold.  It really is unbelievable what this fellow had collected.

Dime Bag 3 Show @ Giant Robot NYC
posted:
I was asked by one of the curators, illustrator and friend Jordin Isip to be part of this HUGE show happening in New York.  I decided to play up on a character I've been drawing and developing in my sketchbooks for the last couple of years.  I wanted to push the space limitation a little bit by actually creating a fold-out situation with it.

The Indestructable Diamond was painted on heavy board then cut-out and glued on the art to give the piece a dimensional quality to it.

There is also a BONUS piece of art  in the folded up booklet!  It was something I was toying with when I first was asked by Jordin to submit something that I later abandoned.  It has nothing to do with the Indestructable Diamond but I felt it was still a solid piece of art.  Only the person who buys this will find out what the Secret Bonus Art actually is!

I really enjoyed doing this project.  It really pushed me to figure out how to do a piece of art to fit in a 3" square.

I will be down in New York from my new digs in Boston for the opening!  I hope to see you there!  And for all my buds and friends...keep the Friday night before the opening open.  More info to follow.
