Three Shows, Two Cities, One Month.

NOVEMBER 30, 2009
December ended up being a busy month for exhibitions for me.  I had originally set them up as separate posts but I realized they all happen at the same time, I made them one.  I've been really enjoying doing these group shows and have some other exhibition opportunities lined up for next year which I am starting work on.

Doing these shows gives me the opportunity to freely experiment with ideas and images that either I've been thinking about for a while or even keep it off the 'cuff and do something in that moment.  It is sort of like working in my sketchbooks but with a little more time and care for the final product.

Here they are....

I will be participating in the Post-It Show 4 curated by the wonderful Esther Pearl Watson and Mark Todd.  It was a blast to create some art in this tiny little format for the show.  Just the materials alone were tough to work with.  Thin paper and smallish size.  Sadly, I won't be able to get to the opening.  Below is the information for the opening and my eight contributions to the show.

Post-It Show 4 at GR2: December 5, 2009 - January 13, 2010
Reception: Saturday, December 5, 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

A piece done for various upcoming exhibitions next year and will be hanging at the Society of Illustrators Members Show during the month of December.
When I feel the need to be inspired, I usually have a few of my sketchbooks open while I am working on projects.  I've been playing with designs in my sketchbook here and there and as I progress along, I pull from and add to my commercial and personal work.  This was the painting nearly done sans line art.
