Microvisions 5

MAY 25, 2010
Rebellion | Acrylic and Ink | 5x7"
SOLD - Total amount raised with all artists: $6,600!!

Irene Gallo and Dan Dossantos asked me to be part of Microvisions this year. Microvisions is an art auction that was created to help fund scholarships for the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition which I chair. I was sort of taken aback and a bit intimidated by being asked to participate because I am not too close to the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre as most of the previous and current participants are. So I just pulled myself together and did what I normally do without apology.
Still, as the art was coming in for the auction, I was humbled by what these guys were doing in a space of 5x7 inches.  Also, just me psyching myself out being in the same show with the likes of Scott Altmann, Rick Berry, Bill Carman, Jon Foster, Donato Giancola, Michael Kaluta, buddy Tim O’Brien, Omar Rayyan, Allen Williams, and Boris Vallejo.. Sheesh!  I was looking at Boris' work when I was still in Junior High and High School so being in the same exhibition at the Society and auction is crazy to me. I am proud and honored to be part of this years line-up.

It wasn't mentioned in the eBay auction but whoever wins my painting will be get the original thumbnail sketch with it also.

Irene Gallo's blog has a whole load of information about this auction and past auctions.  She has a great blog...go give it a read!

I
'd also like to personally thank everyone that is bidding on these pieces.  It's a good thing!  This year I gave out two checks totaling $4000 to scholarship awardees at this years Student Gala under the Microvisions name.  I hope to continue giving more!
