It is a real honor to get invited to participate in group shows but when the other exhibiting artists are good, it gets downright fun. I will be showing these pieces in the X-Rated Valentine Show at Skinner Howard Contemporary in Sacramento, California. It will be a fun show, come on out and celebrate with us.

for Valentine's Day I am happy to debut a new suite of Archival Giclée Prints from my "Couples" Series. I worked closely with the printer to create this edition of 8 images that capture the spirit of the original works. The edition debuts tonight at the launch party for the 9th Annual 2011 Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival at the Mowen Solinsky Gallery

This work continues Richard's personal exploration of the mythical human figure engaged. Using the figure as a metaphor of our passion to connect to others, our communities, our world, and ourselves.
 
Sacramento Bee Art Critic Victoria Dalkey said this about Richard's monotypes in a review. "His elegant yet emotive monotypes focus on abstracted male and female figures engaged in archetypal relationships. These rich and sophisticated graphics quietly steal the show."

I have had the pleasure over the last couple years of being on the creative team at Lynda.com developing cover art for their educational DVD's. Several months ago I was commissioned to create a self portrait for an upcoming secret book project produced as a gift for staff, authors, artists & associates.
 
"Lynda.com left the book publishing business years ago, however that didn't stop us from creating yet another book in a grand fashion. Why make a book if it isn't jaw dropping amazing!' said, Bruce Heavin
 
Lynda Weinman and Bruce Heavin worked with designer Stefan G. Bucher to push the printer & binders to the point of absolute breaking. Needless to say, they created a book that is a beautiful object of art. THE ART OF LYNDA.COM volume 1: 2005-2010 features artist profiles including myself, John Derry, Bruce Heavin, Don Barnett, John Hersey and Maria Rendon. There were only 500 books made and they were all made & bound by hand. Thank you, Lynda, Bruce, Heather and Stefan!
