Richard Borge
Pol Turgeon at Society of Illustrators
I was blown away by the quality and volume of Pol Turgeon's exhibit, "Corpus Herbarius" at the Society of Illustrators. In case you haven't seen it, it is not to miss. He has filled both floors with around 150 paintings. I've always been inspired by his work and had the pleasure of including him in an exhibit of illustrators I organized back in 1992 when I was teaching at Western Carolina University (near Asheville NC).
The show includes a video of Pol demonstrating his technique, which I found extremely generous. I was also impressed with the eloquence in the writing of his various artist statements (which I have always clumsily done at the last minute)... Thanks for the show Pol!
(These shots are a reproduction of a reproduction, so the quality/color accuracy could be tighter but you should get the idea).
Check it out if you can...It will be up until January 4, 2009
