Here's just some of the art for a new cd by The Ghost Train Orchestra--a group of musicians who have collectively collaborated with Elvis Costello, David Byrne, Jay-Z and Phillip Glass to name a few. "Book of Rhapsodies" is an ambitious concept album that reimagines the work of four composers from the thirties and forties whose work traveled between jazz and classical: Alec Wilder, Charlie Shavers, Reginald Forsythe and Raymond Scott. The music is wonderful (and sometimes wonderfully strange)--and often downright exhilarating.
