And he did! Early in the year work was a little slow. I decided to send out an email blast with our hero.
I've noticed with past email blasts the bubble seems to have popped.
More and more art directors have opt out of receiving them and if they didn't less and less open them. Can't blame them, their in box has got to be inundated!
I decided to print up a small run postcard to a target group of 200 art buying folks from my own list I created.
I figured maybe it had a better chance to catch someone's eye.
It work! To this day it has been my most productive postcard promotion. Two of the jobs I received were books that I'm very excited about (more on those very, very soon).
I know it's all hit or miss with these things. Once in an Art Director's office I ask him if he received a lot of postcards from artists. He laugh and pointed to an overflowing garbage pail.
"Yup and that is just from today".
