Bob Dylan's 70th: When Bob Met Woody

MAY 24, 2011

Today marks the 70th birthday of one of America's most iconic living singers & songwriters, Bob Dylan. Over the last year and a half I've worked with the good folks at Little Brown to tell the story of Dylan's friendship with another legend, Woody Guthrie, as told by the writer Gary Golio. Gary's last book, on Jimi Hendrix--"Jimi: Sounds Like a Rainbow"--was illustrated by Javaka Steptoe, and won the 2011 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award, so it was a real honor to have been chosen to work with Gary on this. The book has just been released, and has already received praise and attention from Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and last week's New York Times Book Review. I thought I'd put a few images from the book up here, as well as a link to the Facebook page for the book, and if you'd like to get a copy of your own, well, just click here!

And I thought I'd add Dylan's "Song to Woody" here. Hope you enjoy!
