Cover for The New Republic

MARCH 4, 2011

I was asked by Joe Heroun at The New Republic to work on a cover for the latest issue of The New Republic.   The magazine consists of a series of articles by many writers on the events going on in the Middle East.   Themes about freedom, repression, and how the latest revolts could lead to the end of dictatorships as we've known them.   I did a series of sketches on the idea of dictatorships being toppled.  After talking about it a bit, they wanted more of a forward looking focus, to concentrate on the people instead of the dictators.  So I did a few more sketches and we ended up with this solution.  Sketches and details below, please check out the entire issue now at the newsstands.
