A new piece for today's Wall Street Journal.

A "portrait of wartime".
I got the call from Dave Bamundo to do a piece for today's weekend journal section of the Wall Street Journal, and it was a great experience. Dave is not only a great illustrator and art director, but also a great person, and I am honored to have had the chance to work with him on my first piece for the WSJ.

It felt great to have an overnighter job to work on, and having a short deadline made me really think about my choices for this illustration. I was able to “practice what I preach” to my students in that I had little time to work out my thumbnails sketches and get them to the client.

The illustration is based off the review of Pat Barker’s book ‘Life Class’, a book that deals with art and censorship, and is set during World War I.

Thanks Dave, it was a pleasure.
