USA Today features Scribble 08 : Mark Murphy and Mark Todd
Mark Todd, "Gate Cemetary Lores" on view at Billy Shire Fine Arts
Murphy Fine Art Films premeired Scribble.08, a documentary film inspired by the art movement of southern California-this past summer at Comicon. I had the memorable experience of sharing the film with several of the artists interviewed along with the director Mark Murphy , producer Ten Stories and Ninthlink. This 48-minute film features interviews with 8 significant artists of our time and many of you here are familiar with: Rob and Christian Clayton, Martha Rich(my personal favorite interview), Jeff Soto, Joe Sorren(loved this one too!), Tim Biskup, Camille Rose Garcia and Kevin Christy. Watching these interviews was very energizing and the fact that the films were developed since 2000 or so, made several of them even more poignant. This rich historical film chronicles the growth of these talented artists and, through candid interviews, relays compelling stories of their obstacles, triumphs and sources of inspiration. Photographs, sketches and paintings are seamlessly woven into the storytelling, and original music by MANUOK, Tim Biskup’s Big Butter, The Lyle and the Sparkleface Band featuring Joe Sorren and UKEFINK featuring Jason Holley can be heard throughout the film’s narration. Also, If you are in the LA area before Feb 6th, be sure and check out Mark Todd's show at Billy Shire Fine Arts-his large works are amazing, wish I could see them in person.
