The Final Tropen Poster

MARCH 2, 2009
The Tropen Museum / oil / 18"x19"
After I completed the first 5 paintings for the Tropen Museum Ad campaign, they asked me to illustrate "THE" Tropen Museum's official poster/image. I already had a big head from the first series and now they were asking me to create an image that would represent their entire museum! Unbelievable, am I still dreaming! They flew me out to discuss the project and so that I could experience the museum first hand. The concept was the "museum is open" to everyone. They wanted to showcase the outstanding museum architecture and the 5 artifacts that were part of the first poster series. For me it was a project that has set the bar really high in terms of a great collaboration with a trusting client and an art director that pushed me to do "my thing." It was just an awesome project.

A few paintings from the series were accepted into this Fridays Society of Illustrators Advertising/Institutional show. Since the museum had purchased the originals I asked to borrow them back for this very special occasion. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. After some pleading, tons of official paperwork and a pretty penny, three of the Tropen paintings arrived through customs in the most beautifully crafted crate.
