The Last Synapsid

The fantasy-adventure novel for kids, "The Last Synapsid" is making its debut on February 10. Delacorte Press hired me to illustrate a wraparound book cover for this story that revolves around a time traveling pre-dinosaur and two children that he befriends along the way. I really enjoyed the small town mystery and the facts surrounding the synapsids (creatures that lived long before the dinosaurs) and their connection to humans. The author Timothy Mason is a playwright and a really nice guy. After the project was finished he purchased the original, where I found out that he lives just a few blocks away. The AD, Marci, was also wonderful to work with and only asked for one revision to the initial sketch.
