Sea serpents, childhood memories, relationships between son and father, natural history museums, whale hunting, and the bleak future — some of the ideas swirling in my head during this process. These two paintings are for Mark Murphy's "Know Show" at Gen Art Vanguard Fair (Art Basel) this December. I wanted to talk more about the differences between illustration and gallery work but I'm still figuring it all out myself. I find the process very similar to my illustration work — trying to hide a piece of myself in each image.
The only requirement for the show — 10"x10". A few other Drawgers (Cathie, Calef, Marc, Donald and Gary) are also participating in the show. I wish I was going down to Miami for the show. Let me know how it goes, if anyone is going.
