I recently worked with Holt Vinyl Vault to help strengthen their brand locally and created some character branding for the store.
Jonny Record appears as interchangeable window displays on the exterior of the shop and on posters, postcards & badges on the inside.
Jonny engages with the public through captioned single panel cartoons promoting vinyl culture and his love of himself. Himself being a record.
The yellow and black branding of the Holt Vinyl Vault with the addition of magenta and white recall the palette of Jamie Reid’s ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ cover for the Sex Pistols. Jonny’s catchphrase ‘Kiss My B-Side’ echoing the punk ethos, he’s doing things his way.
The hand drawn type treatment along with the bold palette is rolling over into design with promotional flyers and the Vault’s first ad with Mojo Magazine.
